The official opening of the zoo after a 5-year reconstruction took place on Kharkiv City Day - August 23, 2021. It is one of the best zoos in Europe: both in terms of the collection and conditions of animal keeping. The European Association gave the Kharkiv Zoo the highest marks after its reconstruction.
The zoo in Kharkiv is the oldest in Ukraine - it started its activity in 1895.
